Visa Information

There are several routes you can take to study with JaLS GROUP and we provide assistance every step of the way. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan provides information about visas on its website which can be accessed at http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/

Visa Waiver

Japan has visa exemption arrangements with 68 countries. See the complete list below.

Tourist /
Short-Stay Visa

If you are not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program, you may apply for a short-term visa at your local Japanese embassy or consulate.

Working
Holiday Visa

People from select countries may apply for this visa which allows for work and study in Japan for 1 year.

Visa Waiver

If you period of stay is 90 days or less, you may leave Japan, return, and be issued a new visa waiver. This may also be done before your visa waiver expires. However, immigration may select you for extra screening to verify that no crime is being commited, overstaying, or working illegally. In the event that you are refused entry, JalS group cannot be held responsible for any monetary or criminal charges you may incur. If you have any questions, please consult your local Japanese embassy or consulate.

Tourist /
Short-Term Visa

Those from non-visa exampt countries may apply for a tourist or short-term visa at the Japanese embassy in their home country. JaLS GROUP can provide you with a letter of admission to assist with the application process but cannot become a student guarantor. Tourist visas for periods longer than 3 months are generally not issued. We recommend applying at your embassy at your earliest convenience as processing may take time.

Working Holiday Visa

Year-long Working Holiday Visas are available to young-adults from select countries and offer the opportunity to work and study in Japan so long as the job is not the main purpose of their stay.

Stays up to 3 months
People from countries listed under the visa waiver program do not need to apply for a visa before entering Japan. All others must apply for a tourist or short-term visa before visiting. Please contact your country's Japanese embassy for more details.
Stays from 3-6 months
If you are eligible for a 6-month visa waiver, no action is required before coming to Japan. If your country is not a part of the visa waiver program, please contact your country's Japanese embassy for visa inquiries or assistance.
Stays lasting more than 6 months
If you plan to stay for more than 6 months in a year, you will need to apply for a visa before coming to Japan. Tourist, short-term, and working holiday visas may be used to study with JaLS GROUP. We are not able to sponsor student visas but can help connect you with a language school that does.

Process up until arriving

Make inquiries via our inquiry form, email, or by phone.

Request a quotation via our request form. We will send you the estimate via email.

Register via the online registration form or we can send you forms via email. Once received, please complete and return them to us.

When you register, we will send you a reservation confirmation along with an invoice via email.

Make your payment by the payment due date indicated on the invoice. We accept payments via bank transfer or via online payment systems.
After your payment is confirmed, we will send you a letter of admission and other documents at least 2 months prior to your enrollment.

We will send you information regarding your accomodation including maps.

Arrival to Graduation

What to expect during your stay

Process through graduation

When you arrive at the aiport, please use public transportation or a taxi to get to your accomodation. You will receive materials with details about the location of your stay ahead of time.
note:We also offer an airport pick-up service for a fee (please contact us for more information).

Your program will begin on a Monday. Please arrive by 9:00 AM for orientation. Japanese lessons begin at 9:30 AM. This is where your experience with JaLS begins!

We have various activities that vary by course. Please see our sample schedule for a sample schedule.

You will graduate on a Friday. When your classes finish, a graduation ceremony will be held, and a certificate of completion awarded. Please enjoy your last moments in Japan by joining us for a party after school. Be sure to also take time to visit other parts of Japan.

When you are prepared, make your way to the airport. Remember that you are always welcome at JaLS GROUP schools. We hope you will study with us again in the future.

Turn your time, money, and effort into credits

In many cases, your experience abroad may be eligible for university credit in your home country. If you are interested in receiving credit at your home institution, please consult your school about requirements. We will do what we can support you in the process. However, understand that the final decision to award credit lies with your university.
